Common Questions

Can I use eSIM on a carrier-locked phone?

No. Your phone must be fully unlocked to install a travel eSIM from another provider.

How many eSIM profiles can I store?

Usually 5–20 profiles. Only 1–2 can be active at once, but you can switch freely.

Is eSIM safe to use abroad?

Yes. eSIMs use the same secure technology as physical SIM cards. Data is encrypted.

Can I use eSIM and physical SIM together?

Yes, on dual-SIM devices. Keep your home number on the physical SIM and use eSIM for data.

What Makes a Device eSIM-Compatible?

An eSIM-compatible device has a tiny embedded chip (the eUICC — Embedded Universal Integrated Circuit Card) soldered directly onto the motherboard. This chip acts exactly like a physical SIM card, but it can be reprogrammed wirelessly. Instead of pushing a SIM tray open with a pin, you simply scan a QR code or enter activation details in your device settings.

For a travel eSIM to work, three conditions must be met: (1) the device must have an eSIM chip, (2) the device must be carrier-unlocked, and (3) the operating system must be updated to a version that supports eSIM management (iOS 12.1+ or Android 9+).

Once those boxes are checked, you can browse our country eSIM plans, purchase, and be connected within minutes — no store visits, no shipping, no waiting.

Got questions?

eSIM Compatibility — FAQ

No. A carrier-locked phone can only use eSIM profiles from the original carrier. To use a travel eSIM from any other provider, your device must be fully unlocked. Contact your current carrier and request an unlock — most carriers will unlock your phone for free once you've completed your contract or paid off the device.

There are a few possible reasons: (1) Your device was purchased in a market where eSIM was disabled by the carrier (common in some Asian markets). (2) Your device is carrier-locked to a specific network that hasn't enabled eSIM. (3) Your OS needs updating. Try updating to the latest iOS or Android version, then check again. If the option is still missing after an unlock, contact your manufacturer's support.

Storage capacity depends on the device: iPhones (iOS 16+) support up to 20 stored eSIM profiles, Samsung Galaxy devices typically hold 5–10, and Google Pixels support up to 5. Only 1 or 2 can be active simultaneously, but you can switch freely without losing any stored plan. This means you can pre-install plans for multiple upcoming trips and activate the right one when you need it.

Once an eSIM profile is deleted from your device, it is gone permanently — you cannot reinstall it with the same QR code. The QR code is single-use and is invalidated after the first installation. If you accidentally delete an active eSIM, contact our support team who can assist with re-issuing the plan where supported.

Yes. Many modern tablets and laptops support eSIM, including iPad (2018 and later with cellular), Surface Pro models with LTE, and several Windows laptops. Check the device compatibility list above for iPad and Surface models. Note that most eSIM plans are optimised for smartphones — verify data-only compatibility with tablet/laptop plans before purchasing.
